'Europe 2020 strategy - Innovation insights from European research in socio-economic sciences'

The European Commission is organising the event, which will be held against the backdrop of Europe 2020, the new European strategy for jobs and growth. The conference aims to go beyond the supply and technological perspectives to address the demand side and highlight how social, economic and political dynamics can influence growth in knowledge and innovation.

Academics and EU decision makers will speak at this conference during five themed sessions:
- global and European policy context,
- innovation, entrepreneurship and smart growth,
- social innovation and service-oriented economy,
- innovation and globalisation,
- innovation in a forward-looking perspective.

The Europe 2020 Strategy is an initiative to boost Europe's competitiveness, productivity, growth potential and economic convergence. It will focus on key areas where action is needed, including: knowledge and innovation, a more sustainable economy, high employment and social inclusion.
